The Wingfeather Saga is a crowdfunded American animated fantasy series developed by Angel Studios and Shining Isle Productions, based on the book series of the same name. Andrew Peterson is listed as executive producer and author, with J. Chris Wall as an executive producer in addition to being the showrunner. Keith Lango is the animation director and CG supervisor.

The series will consist of seven seasons, starting with season 1, which will cover the plot of book 1, On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness. Season 2 and season 3 will cover the plot of the second book, North! Or Be Eaten. Season 4 and season 5 will be based on the third book, The Monster in the Hollows; and season 6 and season 7 will cover book 4, The Warden and the Wolf King.

The pilot episode, A Crow for the Carriage, was released on December 26th, 2017.

On September 2nd, 2021, the first email update for the series was released, including news on the adaptation of the story and animation technology breakthroughs. A full transcript can be viewed here.

The first teaser was released on March 10, 2022.

The first season premiered on Angel Studios and Youtube on January 6th, 2022 and is available for free at the Angel Studios website and app.

  • This series reached the first-episode goal of $1,000,000 (in investments) in 48 hours, breaking Angel Studios' previous record (held by their hit show, The Chosen in half. This is the same time it took the 2016 Kickstarter to raise $100,000, which was also a record for the platform at the time.
  • During the period where the website "tested the waters," investors pledged $100,000 for the series in under 24 hours.
  • Andrew Peterson, the author of the original book series, voices the character of Oskar N. Reteep in the show.
