Stranded is the third episode of The Wingfeather Saga's second season. It premiered on April 19, 2024 for Angel Guild members and was temporarily streamed for everyone on July 19, 2024.
Synopsis[]
Making their way along the River Blapp, the Wingfeathers encounter a new threat: the Stranders of the East Bend.
Plot[]
Janner tells Podo what the dragon told him last night, but Podo rebuts, saying they'd all be dead if Gnag was really nearby. A toothy cow charges from the forest and the family run to safety. The cow drops dead and the family discover a Strander spear in the cow's side. They continue their journey through Glipwood Forest and encounter a Strander girl named Maraly who demands they tell her where her cow went. Podo gives her the directions and more Strander children appear. Maraly sends two of them to retrieve the cow and she takes the family to her clan.
They meet Claxton, the clan leader, and he tells them to give him a reason not to kill them. Podo reveals that he was once a Strander and he ran with Growlfist the Strander King and the Pounders. Claxton decides to let them live if Podo can tell his clan a good story of his time with the Stranders. Podo tells the story of when he first met Growlfist and how he swiped Growlfist's pone. The Stranders are enraptured by the story, but Claxton doesn't believe Podo really stole Growlfist's pone, and he announces that Podo, Oskar, and Nia will be thrown in the River Blapp. Podo reveals that he had pickpocketed many clan members, but Claxton doesn't change his mind. Janner notices that Kalmar is about to run. When Kalmar does run, Janner calls him a coward, but he and everyone else soon learn that Kalmar had pickpocketed Claxton's dagger and pone, as well as a few other items.
Claxton refuses to let Kalmar be the new clan chief, but before he can do anything, he is knocked out by his mother. She announces that Kalmar is the new chief and then walks over to Podo and kisses him. Podo recognizes her to be Nurgabog, a woman he knew during his time with the Stranders. The clan throws a celebration for Kalmar and Janner tries to apologize to him, but Kalmar doesn't forgive him. In the morning, Janner finds Kalmar playing tackleball with Maraly and a few other Strander children, but the game is interrupted by a Strander call announcing that the Black Carriage is on its way. Nurgabog tells the family Maraly will take them to the Strander burrows. They arrive at a place called "Night Cider" and the man working there opens up a hidden passageway for them. The family make their way through tunnels and eventually come to a Strander burrow beneath an abandoned house in Dugtown.
