Sophelia Stupe appears in the short story, "The Wooing of Sophelia Stupe". She is the daughter of Brimney Stupe. Her mother died from Turkey Pox. Sophelia also had Turkey Pox as a child and almost died from it. Her face was scarred from the disease. Sophelia lived in Ankle Jelly manor and she runs a Betterment school for Unpolished Children. She also spends some of her time taking care of her heart-broken father who hasn't recovered from his wife's death. Sophelia met Ollister B. Pembrick and purchased eight copies of Pembrick's Creaturepedia to use for correcting posture. Sophelia claims they are just the right size and shape for posture practice. She sets two pairs of the books on her students heads. In her house she has a room titled with a bronze plaque "The Flabbit Room". (An obvious play on words from The Rabbit Room, a creative community that Andrew Peterson founded.) In The Flabbit Room, are shelves of books of a large variety. There, on a desk in the corner of the room, Sophelia Stupe writes notes to the authors in the books she has. In some of her notes it hints at her seeing a Raggant and a portal before much to Ollister B. Pembrick's surprise. Ollister B. Pembrick sneaked in The Flabbit Room and found her notes. She had read and written notes in her copy of Creaturepedia.
