Sea dragons are large scaly creatures that dwell in the Dark Sea, mainly in the Sunken Mountains. They are the result of the original dragons moving to the sea after their destructive dig for the holoré and the holoél in the First Epoch.
Description[]
Sea dragons are long and serpentine, and have scales in all kinds of colors. Their limbs are fins, and two tendrils drape from their snouts. They also have horns on their heads.[1] Their front fins are the original dragon's wings, while their back fins were their clawed legs.[2]
Abilities[]
Sea dragons are telepathic and can communicate directly with the Throne Wardens of Anniera.[3]
Culture[]
Each year in Glipwood, before the Wingfeather War, the dragons came to the cliffs on Dragon Day to sing at the rise of the half-moon.[1]
History[]
First Epoch[]
At the creation of Aerwiar, the dragons could fly, but they moved to the sea after being tricked by Ouster Will to find the Ancient Stones.
Fourth Epoch[]
During the Wingfeather War, the dragons used water from the First Well to turn their fins back into wings.
Trivia[]
- In The Wingfeather Saga television series, sea dragons lack horns unlike their book counterparts, which have horns.
