The Maintenance Managers were children that worked in the Fork Factory that were promoted by the Overseer to keep the lower ranking "Tools" from escaping. Although the Maintenance Managers were treated better by Mobrik and the Overseer, they were still captives of the factory. There is no known instance of any Maintenance Managers trying to escape before the factory was overthrown.
