Madia Wingfeather was the great-grandmother of Janner Wingfeather, Kalmar Wingfeather, and Leeli Wingfeather, as well as the grandmother of Artham Wingfeather and Esben Wingfeather. She passed away before the start of the series, but she does appear in a few sections of book four. She married Ortham Greensmith after he won the Finnik Durga. She was the mother of the twins Gnag the Nameless and Jru Wingfeather. Before Bonnifer Squoon took him away to Ouster Will, she named the older (now called Gnag) Davion, and the younger Jru.
