Kalmar Wingfeather (Kalmar Igiby) (KAL-mar IG-ih-bee), or Tink as he prefers to be called, is the second child and youngest son of Esben and Nia Wingfeather, the younger brother of Janner Wingfeather, and the older brother of Leeli Wingfeather. He is the High King of Anniera.

History[]

Season 1[]

Leeli & The Sea Dragon Song[]

At the start of the episode, Tink had constructed a bow and some arrows. He fired an arrow at a target painted on a sack. When he prepared to fire another arrow, he saw a cave blat. He attempted to shoot the blat, but the arrow missed and instead hit a toothy cow in the forest. The furious toothy cow chased Tink towards Janner, and the two boys worked together to escape from the toothy cow. The next day was Dragon Day. During Dragon Day, the children got into a tussle with the Fang, Slarb. Tink seemingly caused a chimney to topple on Slarb by throwing Leeli's crutch at it. The three children got away from Slarb and fled to the cliffs, where they saw the sea dragons. When Leeli began singing, Tink could see an image showing an old dragon mourning the death of a younger dragon. Their mother Nia eventually came, silenced Leeli, and took the three children home.

A Mysterious Map[]

Due to what happened during Dragon Day, Tink and his siblings were forced to stay in doors. As the days went by, the children would play games and chase each other around the house, which bothered Podo greatly. He eventually begged that Nia let him take the kids out of the house for a game of Zibzy. Nia reluctantly agreed, and the next day, Podo took Tink and the others to a field where their friends were about to play Zibzy. As they played, Tink decided to use a gambloat to win the game, but instead of winning, he made his team lose while also unintentionally whacking Sara's ball into the woods. The next day, Tink and Janner went to Books and Crannies to help Oskar unload a new shipment of books.

While racing Zouzab, Tink accidentally crashed into a shelf and discovered a secret map. Janner told him to put the map back, but Tink instead took it home with the map hidden in his sleeve. Janner eventually discovered that Tink still had the map, and when it got dark outside and everyone was in bed, the two boys studied the map and wondered what it led to, until Podo told them to go to bed.

The Catacombs Below[]

At the start of the episode, Tink showed Janner a warning on the back of the map he found the other day. Later on, Tink and his siblings went into town, and Janner told Tink to take everything they borrowed back, including the map. At Books and Crannies, when Tink attempted to put the map back, he found a poster hidden in the secret compartment. It had a picture of a man fighting Fangs and written on the poster was "The Florid Sword". Before he could put both of the things back, Oskar came over with a book about itches and he gave it to Tink. Tink then left to go find Janner and Leeli. Back at the Igiby Cottage, Tink ran over to Janner and showed him the poster, but Janner wasn't too pleased with him not putting the map back, and he tried to snatch the map and the poster from Tink, but Tink quickly ran off.

The next day, Tink was told by Janner that they're going to Anklejelly Manor to look for the Florid Sword and save Sara, who was taken by the Black Carriage. Leeli also came along and the three children went to Anklejelly Manor. When they got there, they searched the place until Leeli found a basement. The three children heard horned hounds nearby, so they all quickly jumped down. They found a tunnel and Tink and his siblings went through it and came to a locked door with 90 buttons. Using the map, the children were able to open it and inside was a storage room for weapons. As they examined the weapons, they heard crashing coming from the other end of the tunnel, which they learnt was from the horned hounds. Tink and his siblings quickly ran back to the storage room and locked the door as the hounds tried to smash it open.

Escape to Peet's Castle[]

Tink helped Janner and Leeli hold the door closed as the horned hounds tried to get in. After being rescued by Peet, Tink and his siblings followed Peet across some secret bridges in the trees to his treehouse in Glipwood Forest. After going inside, Tink began rummaging around curiously. He asked Peet if there was anything to eat, and Peet gave him some dried leaves. Despite his confusion, Tink proceeded to eat some of the leaves. Tink eventually found a book with "Artham Wingfeather" written in it, and when he asked Peet who Artham was, Peet demanded for the children to leave. Being lead by Janner, the children wandered across the bridges until they eventually heard some rustling in the bushes, which they discovered was Nugget and Podo.

After realising that Peet had followed them, Peet told them that there was a ladder underneath the bridge, and Tink and his siblings climbed down to Podo. As they neared the Igiby Cottage, they heard a noise and discovered that the Fangs were attacking their Cottage. After being informed by Oskar that the Fangs were ordered to arrest the Igibys on sight, Podo told Oskar to take the children to safety. Before they left, Tink said that he was going to fight the Fangs too, but Oskar stopped him.

Fruit for Zouzab[]

Tink was hiding with Janner and Leeli at Ferinia's flower shop trying to come up with a plan to rescue Podo and Nia. Later on when it was dark, Tink and his siblings waited outside the jail for Oskar. When they could hear the guards coming back, Tink decided to go rescue Podo and Nia himself, despite Janner's attempts at stopping him. After freeing the adults, Tink and his family tried to sneak out of the jail undetected, but they were then ambushed by the Fangs and discovered that Zouzab had betrayed them to Gnorm. Tink and his family were locked up and forced to wait for the Black Carriage to arrive and take them. After arguing with Janner, Tink inadvertantly revealed that he took a dagger from Anklejelly Manor.

He then proceeded to free the rest of the family by cutting their bonds. After a plan had been made, Tink gave the dagger to Podo and the family waited for the Black Carriage to arrive. When they were being taken to the Black Carriage, Podo suddenly attacked the Fangs closest to him and ordered the family to flee. Tink ran with his siblings and Nia, but they didn't get very far when Nia had to stop a Fang from killing Podo. Before they were taken into the Black Carriage, Peet arrived and attacked several Fangs, allowing Tink and his siblings to quickly hide. When the battle was over, Tink and his family went to Books and Crannies to look for Oskar, and they eventually found him wounded, having been stabbed by Zouzab. Podo ordered Tink to go and fetch the Shoosters, and Tink eventually came back with Joe and Addie Shooster, who began tending to Oskar's wound.

After saying goodbye to Oskar, the family headed to their Cottage to gather supplies. Before they left, however, Slarb grabbed Tink and held a blade up to his neck, demanding for a crate that Podo was given by Buzzard Willie, believing for it to contain the Jewels of Anniera. After Podo gave Slarb the crate, Tink was thrown to the ground by Slarb as the Fang opened the crate. Tink was able to quickly get away when Slarb discovered there to be angry thwaps inside the crate, which proceeded to attack the Fang. After Slarb was gone, Tink and his family left their home.

The Jewels of Anniera[]

When Podo and Janner had to make an attempt at setting fire to Anklejelly in order to attract all of the creatures of Glipwood Forest, Podo told Tink to let nothing else come through the door of the weapons room. Later on, when Podo was dying due to loss of blood, Tink was crying along with his siblings and Nia as they sat around Podo's body. The next day, after the battle outside Anklejelly Manor had ended, Tink and his family stayed at Peet's castle. There, Tink and his siblings learnt from the adults that they were the Jewels of Anniera and that he was the High King of the Shining Isle. Nia then gave Tink a gift: Esben's sketchbook, which contained sketches of Anniera.

Season 2[]

Flight of the Wingfeathers[]

Kalmar and Janner were being trained by Podo outside Artham's tree house. He and Janner begun with a quill diggle drill and they threw their daggers at the targets. As he was pulling his dagger out of the target, Kalmar could smell food coming from the tree house and he attempted to sneak in and nab some, but Nia stopped him. Kalmar returned to training and he and Janner practiced shooting horned hound targets. Kalmar stole Janner's arrows and the two boys began wrestling, much to Podo's disapproval. During a toothy cow drill, Kalmar and Janner climbed up some nearby trees and shot the targets, though Kalmar was more successful than Janner. When he ran out of arrows, Kal jumped down and cut off the head of one of the toothy cow targets. To his annoyance, Janner told him that toothy cows can still bite and kick without their heads.

After Oskar came and alerted the family that trolls were coming, Kalmar mounted Nugget and was told by Podo to shoot anything he can and Kalmar and his family fled as the Fangs approached. Kalmar shot a few Fangs and when he realized the Fangs had horned hounds, he alerted Podo. He then proceeded to shoot two of the horned hounds before he and his family reached a gully. They began to cross it, but when Nugget reached the bottom, he became drowsy and Kalmar went to help Janner move Nugget. Kalmar screamed when a toothy cow poked its head out of the ground and began slobbering on his foot, and Janner tried to help Kalmar. Nugget broke out of his trance and pounced on the cow which caused the ground to collapse and Kalmar and his siblings and Nugget to fall into a den.

Podo jumped down to help them and Kalmar checked his foot, relieved that the cow only slobbered on it. He screamed when he saw several creatures surround them. After Nia and Oskar dragged a log through one of the holes in the ceiling, Kalmar followed Leeli and Nugget out of the den just before Podo and Janner encountered a gargan rockroach. Kalmar saw Artham jump in to fight off the beast and he also saw him get captured. After Podo and Janner got out, Kalmar saw Zouzab on the shoulder of the troll that grabbed Artham and he trained his bow on the ridgerunner. General Khrak ordered him to stand down or Artham will die. Kalmar and his family were able to escape when, after it had consumed the First Well water Janner had thrown into its mouth, the gargan rockroach burst from the ground and attacked the Fangs.

Kalmar and his family reached the River Blapp and stopped to rest and the grown-ups tried to decide where to go. Podo suggested Torrboro, but Oskar suggested Miller's Bridge at Fingap Falls and because Kalmar is the High King, he asked him where he thought would be the best place to go. Kalmar was too nervous to say anything so Leeli spoke up for him, saying Miller's Bridge seems like the better option, and Kalmar thanked Leeli as they set out for Fingap Falls. When they reached the Falls however, they discovered there was no bridge.

Fingap Falls[]

Kalmar found steps and he and his family followed them to what at first seemed like a dead end. He looked through the mist and spotted Miller's Bridge. He and Janner were quickly saved by Nia just as a boulder crashed into the bridge, leaving a gap. After Nia and Leeli got across the gap, Kalmar and Janner, riding Nugget, got across next, followed by Oskar and Podo. As they ran across the bridge, Kalmar, Janner, and Podo stopped halfway to fight off the Fangs. Kalmar was more successful than Janner at shooting the Fangs, and Janner eventually gave him the rest of his arrows. They were forced to retreat when the trolls began approaching, and after Podo killed one of them, the bridge began to weaken and Kalmar hoped it would collapse under the second troll's weight.

When it still stood, Kalmar and Janner were told to flee to safety by Podo, but Nugget quickly jumped over them and attacked the troll and eventually sacrificed himself by pulling the troll into the water. Kalmar and his family stopped to camp at some ruins and Kalmar and Janner joined Leeli when she walked over to the cliff and played a dirge for Nugget. As she played, Kalmar could see memories of Nugget and eventually saw a vision of sea dragons carrying Nugget's body to an underwater tomb. Later on, he heard Janner warn everyone that Gnag the Nameless was near.

Stranded[]

Kalmar and his family quickly hid when a toothy cow came charging toward the camp. After the cow died, they discovered a Strander spear lodged in its side and they made their way through northern Glipwood Forest, hoping to avoid the Stranders. However, they soon encountered a Strander girl named Maraly who demanded to know where her cow went. After Podo gave her directions, she escorted Kalmar and his family to her camp in the East Bend where they were introduced to the Strander chief Claxton Weaver who threatened to kill them if they didn't have anything good to offer. Kalmar listened on as Podo told the Stranders a story of when he met Growlfist the Strander King and nabbed his pone.

Claxton didn't believe the story and ordered for the grown-ups to be tossed in the Blapp and the children thrown in the cages, but Kalmar quickly ran and Janner, not realizing what Kalmar was doing, called him a coward. Kalmar saved his family by pocketing Claxton's pone and becoming the new clan chief and a celebration was held in his honor. Janner apologized to Kalmar, but Kalmar didn't forgive him and instead mocked him. The next day, Kalmar was playing tackleball with Maraly and a few other Strander children, but the game was interrupted by a Strander call announcing that the Black Carriage was coming. Kalmar and his family were led to an entrance to the Strander tunnels by Maraly and they made their way to a Strander burrow beneath an abandoned house in Dugtown.

The Roundish Widow[]

Kalmar waited with his siblings and Nia in the abandoned house for Podo and Oskar to return. To pass the time, Nia told the children to do their T.H.A.G.S. and she told Kalmar to draw a picture of the Igiby cottage. As he was doing a drawing of Miller's Bridge, Janner praised him for seeing the bridge when no one else could, and he noted that he yelled at Kalmar again. Janner apologized and Kalmar responded with a stiff nod. Later on, Kalmar overheard the grown-ups talking, and he was worried when he heard Oskar say he was Anniera's last hope. When it was one hour to midnight, Kalmar and his family crept through the streets and made their way to the Roundish Widow. However, along the way, they were almost caught by the Fangs, but Leeli, having noticed a loose gutter across the street, asked Kalmar if he'd be able to throw a rock at it.

Grabbing a pitchfork that was nearby, Kalmar swung the rock at the gutter and distracted the Fangs, allowing he and his family to slip away. When they reached the Roundish Widow, a man named Ronchy McHiggins told them that after he leaves, their guide to the Ice Prairies, Migg, will arrive. He also told the children they could help themselves to any food in the tavern. Kalmar and his family waited for a bit until Migg at last arrived and explained the dangers they will encounter during their journey. Kalmar and Janner, both feeling hungry and thirsty, went behind the counter to look for food. Migg suddenly betrayed them and let the Fangs into the building, and the others were forced to flee without Kalmar and Janner, but not before Nia told them to stay put and stay together.

The Sundering[]

Kalmar and Janner woke up in the Roundish Widow and were discovered by Ronchy. He gave them directions to the Strander burrow and Kalmar and Janner made their way through the streets. They were almost separated and Janner berated Kalmar for running off and reminded him that they are the Throne Warden and High King. Kalmar told him he didn't want to be king and he ran off again. Later on, Kalmar made his way to the East Bend, hoping to continue to be its chief. However, the Stranders were unwelcoming and Claxton appeared and took back his pone.

The Fork! Factory![]

Kalmar was seen by Janner in a vision in which he was locked in a cage with a terrified look on his face.
