Flight of the Wingfeathers is the first episode of the second season of The Wingfeather Saga. It premiered on April 5, 2024 on Angel Studios for Angel Guild members and was temporarily streamed for everyone on July 5, 2024. It was shown on November 18, 2023 at Feather Fest.
Synopsis[]
The Wingfeathers must flee their familiar haven into the unknown with the Fang army close behind.
Plot[]
Oskar is in a hidden room in the Only Inn, being taken care of by the Shoosters. The Fangs grow suspicious of the old couple and arrest them. General Khrak arrives in Glipwood and is informed by Zouzab that the Fangs refused to search the forest for the Igibys because they were afraid of the creatures, but Khrak is confident that the forest will not be a problem. In the forest, Podo is training the children to defend themselves from the creatures of the forest, but the training session is interrupted when Oskar comes riding on a gambloat yelling for the family to run.
They all grab everything they need and flee just as the Fangs arrive. Several Fangs get caught in Artham's traps and Kalmar dispatches several Fangs with his bow. They reach a gully and attempt to cross it as quickly as possible, however, Nugget is dizzy when he reaches the bottom. The boys try to help move Nugget when Kalmar’s foot is suddenly caught in a toothy cow’s mouth. The children and Nugget eventually fall into a den and Podo jumps down to help them. Nia and Oskar drag a log into one of the holes to allow the children, Nugget, and Podo to climb out. Many dizzy creatures surround them and they soon discover they are in a rockroach den.
Artham jumps in and fights the rockroach allowing them to escape, but Janner stays to help. Artham is suddenly grabbed by a troll and Janner remembers he has the water from the First Well in his pack. He throws the water into the rockroach’s mouth and escapes the den. General Khrak tells them to surrender or Artham dies. The ground begins to shake and fruit hanging from trees drops into the gully. Zouzab jumps down to eat the fruit, but the gargan rockroach, now much bigger, breaks out of the ground and eats the ridgerunner. The troll carrying Artham leaves and the family escape as the Fangs deal with the rockroach. The family reach the River Blapp and Oskar tells them about Miller's Bridge, suggesting they cross it if it is real.
The family make their way along the Blapp and reach Fingap Falls where they discover that the bridge, if there ever was one, is gone.
