Armulyn (ARR-muh-lin[1]), more commonly known as Armulyn the Bard, is a Skreean bard known for singing about the Shining Isle of Anniera.
History[]
Early life[]
Armulyn was born in Skree to unknown parents.
Post-Great War[]
After the Great War, Armulyn wanted to keep stories of Anniera alive, and walked to different towns to sing songs of Anniera, earning him the title of bard.
Wingfeather War[]
Toward the beginning of the Wingfeather War, Armulyn preformed at Glipwood's annual Dragon Day festival. That evening, after singing at a bonfire at Charney Baimington's house, he ran into Nia Wingfeather and her children. Though Nia was cold to him, possibly knowing that he likely knew enough Annieran history to guess who her children were, he was friendly to the Igibys, especially Leeli. They parted ways without much conversation, but Armulyn had indeed guessed who the Igiby children truly were.
In the months after, he wandered the length and breadth of Skree, telling as many as he could that the Jewels of Anniera were yet alive. In his wanderings, he met Sara Cobbler's father, finding the fellow near death. The two spent some time camping in the wilds of Skree before parting ways.
During this time, he found many villages that the Fangs had burned, and found many now-parentless children in the wreckage. He coaxed them out and brought them to Dugtown, where they joined the army of orphans from the Fork Factory.
Near the end of the Wingfeather War, Armulyn assisted Artham Wingfeather, Gammon Felda, Sara Cobbler, and Maraly Felda in the defeat of the Fangs of Dang who were inhabiting Skree.
Post-Wingfeather War[]
Shortly after the Wingfeather War, Armulyn sailed to Anniera along with Sara, Artham, and two dozen orphans. Upon arriving at the Shining Isle, he kissed the ground and walked the island in awe, saying, "the stories are true," to anyone who would listen.
Many years later, he put words to the lay that Leeli Wingfeather played for Janner Wingfeather. [2]
Trivia[]
- The character Armulyn is author Andrew Peterson's tribute to singer-songwriter Rich Mullins with Armulyn's name being a play on words: when pronounced correctly, it sounds like R. Mullin. Armulyn is even described and illustrated as looking like Rich.
